Mautern, Lower Austria, Dedication of Sculpture St. Severin

26/11/2012

The ceremonial opening of the bypass of Mautern and Furth-Palt was crowned with the dedication of the bronze sculpture of St. Severin.

This sculpture is considered the last true and creative work of the famous sculptor Prof. Johann Freilinger, who unexpectedly passed away in May 2012. As a result, the original model was left unfinished in his studio. The statue was completed by the sculptor and restorer Mr. Erich Pummer from Rossatz. Mr. Pummer added, "When I was young, I was a student of Prof. Freilinger and gained a plenty of experience and knowledge through him. In this way, I was able to reproduce his characteristic style and finish this work in accordance to his ideas."
