The Austrian President Heinz Fischer visited the hugh conservation project „Maiden Tower“ (Qiz Qalasi”) of Atelier Erich Pummer, the conservation company from Rossatz, during his official business mission in Azerbaijan.

Accompanied by a high ranking business delegation, President Fischer and his wife was welcomed by the director of the Old City Administration, Mikayil Jabbarov and Conservator Erich Pummer, at the landmark of Baku, where this exceptional and mysterious monument was presented and the complicate conservation works have been explained.

President Fischer showed himself very interested and pleased, that an Austrian company was contracted to restore such a important UNESCO world heritage monument by the Old City Administration „ICHERISHEHER“, which is directly subordinated to the cabinet of ministers. In the following „Business-Forum“ President Fischer met together with the Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev, where actually and prospective business relationships, especially in the concern of the planed NABUCCO pipeline, have been discussed and negotiated. In the beginning of the forum, President Aliyev pointed on the great confidence which the Azerbaijan country shows to Austrian companies and designated Atelier Erich Pummer, which has been contracted to restore the national Azerbaijan monument, the Maiden Tower.
