The VAC technology as part of a degree dissertation
The life sized Madonna, consisting of fine-grained lime sandstone (19. Century) will be preserved with the VAC vacuum method in the scope of a degree dissertation. The graduate executes the whole conservation on a scientific based level, in which the stone strengthening process by VAC is placed as the central task. The stone conservation students are taking part during the VAC treatment in the scope of a “workshop”. Thus the VAC method is now part of the academic studies at the institute in Vienna.
