In December 2013, the Studio Erich Pummer has had a 3-year major project, the planning, overall restoration and preservation of the 1000 year old Maiden tower (QIZ QALASI), landmark of Baku - Azerbaijan, completed. On April 18th 2014 the International Day of the monument, the Azerbaijani project preservationists, architects and representatives of UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) and ICOMOS (International Council on Monuments and Sites) came together as part of a conference in Baku presented by Erich Pummer.

Here, the managing director and restorer Pummer was awarded the Honorary Diploma of the Chamber of Architects of Azerbaijan for the best exterior preservation and interior design of the eight-storey Maiden tower. The application of modern conservation techniques and the specially developed materials as well as equipment for the problematic issue led to it being the winning result.

In October 2013, the restoration was awarded the honorary diploma "Azerbaijan's flag" by the President Ilham Aliyev on the recommendation of the Azerbaijani media union (press, radio, television).

Erich Pummer and his team are very pleased in consideration of these recognitions, especially about the given follow-up project, that of the complete renovation of the historically important "Beyler Mosque" in the centre of "Icherisheher", Old Town of Baku, which is under the protection of UNESCO.
