Successful start for Monumento 2012

The first trade fair for conservation of historic monuments in Salzburg.

For three days, the spirit of times long passed imbued the halls of Messezentrum Salzburg. Experts and enthusiasts of historical artifacts enjoyed the opportunity to explore the world of restorers, material researchers and building experts. On an area of approximately 8,200 m², the exhibitors’ products and services could be marveled at by visitors from eight nations: Austria, Germany, Finland, Sweden, Switzerland, Italy, Slovenia and the Czech Republic.

The fair covered a wide range of topics, including care and preservation of monuments, building materials, tools and building equipment, conservation and restoration techniques, issues regarding computer-based archiving, documentation and inventory. The field of architecture was represented, just as the field of garden and cultural landscape conservation and security and building services technology. Some of the highlights were the live 3D survey of a more than 500,000 year-old biface, the stonemason’s living workshop, the baroque garden landscape with 1,500 box trees and the booth with hand blown glass from Murano which is to be designated “World Heritage Site” in the near future.

The public talks which were offered by experts on all of the fair days received great response and were praised from all sides. In this context, Dipl.-Arch. Dr. Bernd Vollmar held a talk on the current topic of “Monuments and the Energy Revolution”.

Exhibitors and visitors were satisfied with the course and results of the trade fair The quality of the event was excellent, which resulted in the consistently positive feedback from the exhibitors: “Our expectations were exceeded, great event and organization, highly interested audience”, are just some of the comments.
